The background paper seminar on "Global Value Chain Development Report 2025" was held

The seminar is co-organized by the Institute of Global Value Chain Research, the World Trade Organization, the Asian Development Bank, the Asian Economic Research Institute and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development. It is particularly grateful to the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Economic Forum and related researchers for their strong support and contributions.

On December 12, Shen Siyan, Executive Dean of the Global Value Chain Research Institute of the w88 mobile of International Business and Economics, presided over the opening ceremony. Zhao Zhongxiu, President of the w88 mobile of International Business and Economics, Professor Robert Koopman, Editor-in-Chief of the "Global Value Chain Development Report 2025", and Professor Albert Park, Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank, delivered opening speeches respectively. They warmly congratulated the seminar and expressed their sincere expectations for the Report 2025. At the same time, they extended their sincere thanks to the relevant institutions and guests who supported the meeting.

The Global Value Chain Report 2025 is themed "Re-globalization - Building a more inclusive and green global value chain opportunity". It deeply explores multiple key issues under the new global situation. The report will focus on geopolitical risks, key industry industrial chains, digital transformation, service opening, industrial policies and subsidies, financing channels, and carbon pricing. The background paper seminar was divided into eight special topics. During the two-day meeting, participants gave special speeches and interactive exchanges through a combination of online and offline methods. They reported on their respective research progress and conducted in-depth discussions to put forward constructive opinions and suggestions for the next step in promoting research.

In the closing ceremony on December 13, Professor Robert Koopman, editor-in-chief of the Global Value Chain Development Report 2025, Professor Yin Xiaopeng, dean of the Global Value Chain Research Institute, Satoshi Inomata, chief economist of the Asian Economic Research Institute, and Ralph Ossa, chief economist of the World Trade Organization, once again thanked all the individuals and institutions who supported the Report series, and put deep expectations on the release of the Global Value Chain Development Report 2025 and the future development of the global value chain.

The Global Value Chain Development Report was first and organized by the Institute of Global Value Chain Research of the w88 mobile of International Business and Economics, and hired the editor-in-chief to plan the writing of each report. It was co-written with the World Bank, the World Trade Organization, the Organization for Economic Development and Cooperation and the Japan Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Economic Development. It is currently the only series of reports in the world that systematically analyzes and explains the theoretical, empirical research and development status of the global value chain. The Development Report, the Global Value Chain Database and Development Index (GVC Indicator), and the Global Value Chain Summer Workshop, together form a system of global value chain teaching and research.
